a missive is a sentiment you stamp and send
My name is Malaya, and I’m the missivist.
I’ve always made things: arts, crafts, comics, friends. Mostly, I would make for myself and my loved ones, occasionally stamping and sending them, taking joy in the delight I knew they would feel when they found my colorful missive in their mailbox amongst the junk and bills. There’s nothing quite like holding a written word in your hands—it’s utterly earnest, the sincerest form of affection. How could you doubt that someone loves you when they paid 66¢ for you to read it in their own handwriting?
I didn’t want to keep this feeling to myself. If I could seal it with a kiss, I would mail it to you, but instead I adapted my papercraft. Still assembled by hand, but now designed digitally, I can now produce my pieces while still adding a personal touch. Consistent quality, yet each one is still unique.
My goal in sharing my art with the world is simply to foster connection. Everyone should know what it’s like to send magic in the mail. Let me help you!
